Don was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and has lived in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Oklahoma, and now Virginia. Most of his school years were spent in the Chicagoland area. He graduated from Central State University in Oklahoma with a degree in Marketing and Commercial Art.
